Crocker Art Museum
The Crocker Art Museum, located in downtown Sacramento, specializes in local art, European drawings, East Asian paintings, and international ceramics. On Saturdays and Sundays, it's also a place where children ages 3 to 16 can celebrate birthdays. For a minimum of 10 guests and a maximum of 24, the museum provides a package that includes invitations, an art-making workshop, an interactive tour of the museum, a party host, goodie bags, and a gift for the birthday celebrant. For an additional fee, choose from one of three gourmet meals for kids. It is advised that a four-month advanced reservation be made for a birthday party.
Touchstone Climbing & Fitness
Rock climbing birthday parties at Touchstone Climbing & Fitness, Pipeworks Gym, include basic instruction and belaying for your guests. Kids can enjoy two hours of rock climbing followed by a celebration in a private party area. Touchstone does not supply food for your party, but you can bring your own food or call for delivery. Parties are offered during Touchstone's regular hours and reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. You must also make a deposit when you make a reservation for the party, which is for a minimum of five children. An extra fee is charged for each additional child.
Mad Science of Sacramento Valley
Mad Science offers children ages 5 to 12 three birthday party packages. The "Standard Party" includes a 45-minute interactive show, a Mad Science poster, a T-shirt for the celebrant, and a take-home science project for guests. "Party at the Mad Science Lab" features all of the above plus paper goods, beverages, a host, and a party room decorated in a science theme. "Super Party" includes one standard party, one standard party upgrade, goodie bags, and invitations. Upgrades and add-ons are offered for an additional fee and include your choice of snacks, shows, rides and/or invitations. You're allowed to bring cake or cupcakes, pizza, sandwiches, deli plates, fruits, peanut-free snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Birthday parties may be held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and are priced for one to 14 kids or for 15 to 25 kids.
Fairytale Town
Fairytale Town is located directly across from the Sacramento Zoo. For a minimum of 10 guests and a maximum of 25, you can celebrate a birthday in Mr. McGregor's Garden or in King Arthur's Castle. The Excalibur party in King Arthur's Castle includes an hour in the castle with unlimited play time in Fairytale Town before and after the party, as well as a host, party games, cake, ice cream, paper goods, punch, T-shirts, and a crown for the celebrant. The Camelot Party includes everything in the Excalibur Party as well as a meal for each child, two complimentary passes to Fairytale Town, and goodie bags. For a maximum of 50 guests and a minimum of two hours, Sherwood Forest and Pooh's Corner are rented by the hour plus the cost of admission for all guests ages 2 and older. Both have a large seating area, and you can bring your own food, cake, and paper products. Pooh Corner also includes folding tables and lawn chairs. Parties may be booked any day of the week.
