Baby showers are a fun tradition for expecting mothers to prepare themselves for motherhood amidst the supportive company of good friends. If an expecting mother wishes to throw a Christian-themed shower, she will have several different games from which to choose. Most involve knowledge of biblical characters and situations, with a few others dealing with virtues and qualities that Christianity highlights as important.
Christian Baby Shower Word Scramble
The Christian Baby Shower Word Scramble is a simple game in which 11 ideas or concepts that every Christian parent should teach are scrambled out of order. The object of the game is to see which guest or group of guests can unscramble all the words first. Any biblical virtues can be used for this, but here are some examples: consequences, stewardship, commandments, self love, reverence, respect, obedience, compassion, charity, responsibility, scripture. Simply write these down in scrambled form, and pass them out to your guests in groups.
Babies in the Bible
Babies in the Bible is a game of biblical knowledge. A few different versions exist, but overall the object is to remember the most names of babies from the Bible. One version involves simply having each guest list as many babies as they can remember, with the guest remembering the most winning. In another version, the hostess calls out the name of a biblical baby, and guests must be able to name that baby's mother. Whichever guest answers correctly gets a point, and the guest with the most points wins. You can do the same thing with the father; call out the names of biblical babies, and require your guests to call out the names of the fathers, using the same point system as in the previous version. You can also make it a sort of matching game if you like; have a list of babies, and a list of mothers, fathers, or perhaps couples of parents, and have the guests match the babies to their parents.
Name That Saint
Name That Saint is a variation of a popular party game. The great thing about this game is that it can be played for the entirety of the shower. Before guests arrive, the hostess writes down the names of many saints from the Bible. As the guests arrive to the party, they each get a name pinned to their back or taped to their forehead. It is very important that they don't see which saint they are. As the party goes on, it is the job of each guest to guess who they are.
