Luau Centerpiece Decorating Ideas

Creating a centerpiece for a luau is simple and can often incorporate items you already have access to. Luau centerpieces don't have to cost a lot of money and take very little time. These centerpieces all involve the creative arrangement of simple items. They are also all low to the table so your guests can easily see each other across the table. Does this Spark an idea?

Fresh Fruit Centerpiece

Use real wood bowls or bowls made to look like wood. Put a variety of brightly colored tropical fruits in each bowl. For example, use small pineapples, kiwi, mangoes, papayas and starfruit. Buy a variety of brightly colored silk flowers, such as hibiscus, lilies or birds of paradise. Cut the stems off the flowers and stick the flowers in between the fruit to make the bowl look full and rounded.

Candle Centerpiece

Buy a large three-wick white candle. Make sure the candle is unscented because scented candles can interfere with the taste of food. Put bright tropical flowers around the base of the candle to add some theme-related color. As an alternative to flowers, place variety of seashells around the candles, or surround the candle with white votive candles.

Seashell Centerpiece

Place at least one large seashell and several smaller seashells on each table. Simply arrange the seashells in the center of the table, or place them in a wood bowl or on a platter. To incorporate other items into the centerpiece, arrange the seashells with flowers or tea light candles. If you include candles, make sure nothing flammable is close to the candles.
