Luau Bridal Shower Games

Luau Bridal Shower Games

Luau-themed bridal showers remain popular because they lend themselves to a wide variety of creative decorations and games. Even if you do not live in a warm and sunny tropical climate, your decor can help transport guests to a tropical paradise. Crank up the ukulele music, drape guests with colorful leis and prepare to play tropical-themed variations of traditional bridal shower games. Does this Spark an idea?

Hula Fun

Hula-hoops make a fun and easy substitute for the original hula dance performed throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Assign each guest a song that will be played throughout the wedding and reception. For example, a bride might dance to "Here Comes the Bride" while wedding party members might hula to Mendelssohn's "Wedding March". When guests hear their song, they must stand up and hula to it. Guests who cannot complete the song or who let their Hula-hoop hit the floor must leave the game. Crown those still in the game at the end the "Hula Queens," and place a plastic tiara on their heads.

Guess the Bathing Suit

Ask guests to each bring a bathing suit in the bride's size to the party-hidden in a paper bag so that nobody else can see it. After collecting the bathing suits, hang them on a clothesline. Let the bride try to match the bathing suit to the giver. If she gets it right, she keeps the bathing suit. When she guesses wrong, let her try again. This makes a great shower game for a bride who plans to honeymoon in a tropical location. Since swimsuits can be expensive, you might want to ask guests to bring a bathing suit in lieu of any other gifts.

Design Your Own Luau Attire

In this takeoff of a traditional bridal shower game in which guests create a wedding gown out of toilet paper, guests must use the toilet paper to make their own "grass" skirts. Divide the guests into teams, and give each team a roll of toilet paper. Instruct them to choose one team member to serve as the model. Give them 15 minutes to create original luau attire. Teams might create a skirt by tearing the toilet paper into long strips and taping them around the model's waist. You can also encourage them to make fake leis out of the toilet paper by draping it around the model's neck. They might even want to tie the toilet paper around their torso to make a bikini top. At the end of the allotted time, let guests vote on the most creative tropical attire. Pass out tropical themed prizes, such as sunglasses and flip-flops to the winning team.
