Luau Brunch Ideas

Use pineapples and leis to set the mood for your luau brunch.

A true, traditional luau feast was served and eaten on the floor. However, times have changed, and if you are interested in offering a luau brunch to your guests, then you have plenty of options that are available to you. Mixing traditional elements of a luau with more modern recipes and trends will create a fun brunch that your friends will enjoy. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Music and Decorations

Consider using sea shells as centerpieces at your tables for an island-feel.

Set the right mood for your brunch by playing Hawaiian music. If your event has a big budget, you could bring in a band to play for your guests. If you are working with a more limited budget, just travel to your local music store and purchase a CD of Hawaiian music. Decorations will also be easy to acquire. Party stores often have leis in stock. You can buy a lei for each guest and arrange the leis at each setting. Coconut candles will make nice table centerpieces that offer a sweet scent reminiscent of Hawaii.

Clothing Recommendations

When you invite your guests to the party, ask them to wear their brightest aloha shirts (shirts with flowers and bold colors) so that they will come sporting a more Hawaiian air. Guests may also wear flowers in their hair. For a fun twist, consider giving a prize to the person who is dressed in his or her aloha-best.

Dishes

You can serve traditional brunch items (eggs, waffles), but for a more Hawaiian flare, consider going with a menu that incorporates more Hawaiian favorites. If you wish to serve waffles, then make Hawaiian waffles with pineapple and coconut. Another option would be to create a Hawaiian brunch pizza. Have an assortment of fresh fruits available at the brunch, including extra pineapple since it is often associated with the Hawaiian Islands. For drink options, your guest will enjoy pineapple or coconut smoothies in addition to the usual brunch choice of juice.
